About
What they’re saying about Gerald McClendon, The ‘SOULKEEPER” Recording Artist!
Guest of the famous Back-Room establishment on Rush Street in Chicago was in for a night they would never forget, when they were treated to a special engagement with one of Chicago’s most talented vocalists, Mr. Gerald McClendon. Gerald was happy to treat the sold out crowd to a selection of cover songs from Sinatra, Smokey Robinson, to a handful of Motown classics that brought the house down. But the true highlight of this special evening was the songs he performed from his CD “Choose Love.” For a moment he you forget all of your troubles as he brought you inside each one of his songs, with style and flair that seems to be missing from many of today’s performers.

“Choose Love” is a relaxing, mid-tempo piece of mellow soul. This CD by Gerald McClendon is quite interesting in that there’s not one overall sound to the album but a range of different approaches to some good songs, which is quite refreshing in this producer-dominated era. The title song is relaxing, mid-tempo piece of mellow soul.

My goal is to reach one and teach one students of all cultures and background the tradition of R&B Soul music and the blues. I along with my band was invited by the Blues Experience Band to participate in a concert Series in 23 Evanston schools working with the Evanston In-School Music Association (EISMA) a wonderful program that brings music, education and performances to the schools in Evanston, IL. I will never forget this experience and I am sure the kids formed a new understanding of blues music and its long-lived tradition.
